I was wondering what screen capture tool you could recommend for creating demo video’s. It should be capable of capturing a specific window, preferably without the window frame. Audio capture capability would be considered as a bonus, but more importantly I’d prefer an open source application.
While at it, any suggestions for a video editing application from the Build Service repos?
RecordMyDesktop might suit you. If you want to try it out you might also like to install recordmydesktop-gtk, which is a gui for it. Other similar apps are XVidCap and Istanbul … Recordmydesktop is audio capture capable, but I guess both the other two has that feature as well.
Video editing software:
Kino, KDenlive, Cinelerra, OpenShot, Avidemux
The nice thing with KDenlive is that it makes use of recordmydesktop for screen-capture, you might choose those two together and gain what you want all in one. Besides, KDenlive is quite frequently recommended on this forum so it should be a decent choice.
For KDenlive and dependecy packages you just have to enable the Packman repo in yast.
RecordMyDesktop isn’t available from packman anymore but you can install it with ‘one click install’ here (pay attention to the version number, this is OpenSuSE 12.1): software.opensuse.org: Search Results
