Something I have done has caused this to happen but I don’t know how to fix the problem. The screen goes blank periodically during movie playback and when I press any key the password prompt must be satisfied before I can see the video again. The audio remains on while the screen is blank. This blanking just started recently. It occurs with any video player. I will try turning off my screen saver. it is set to go off after 4 minutes of keyboard inactivity. Seems the blanking I’ve described above takes longer to happen than 4 minutes. I never measured.
