SCPM issues....help!.

Hi,
I am running 11.1 x64 with GNOME. I am on a lot of different networks and it seems that SCPM is the thing to use to change ip’s etc. So I have enabled it and I would like to use the profile chooser applet. When I try to add the applet, I get an error message saying

The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:gscpm".

sumf seems to work, but i want my applet!!!

I would like to know why the applet is not loading but I don’t know where to look (logs etc)…

thanks for your help

ps - I have found that if I drop to command line and run sumf it works fine, but if I try to launch from menu, it does not come up at all…any ideas about that??

bump…can anyone help?

thanks

It’s been a while but did you get this sorted out? I’m having the same problem. SUMF will only start from the command line and gscpm thows up that error when trying to add it to the panel.

I’m able to start SUMF from the menu but I am on KDE. It could be something related to Gnome?

Hi,
the quick answer is no, i have never figured this out. I am little disappointed in the Suse forums and in particular Suse’s support of SCPM(or lack of it). I am having a different issue with it and have had no luck there either.

can I change the networkmanager interface file name? - openSUSE Forums

let me know if you find out anything.

thanks

I don’t use NetworkManager. I always had problems in the past and it was not getting along with profile switching.

That probably explains why my profiles settings never work when switching profiles. I’ll try disabling it and see if that fixes it for me.
