Hello all. “Scanvirus” is script application that uses the clamscan engine and uses minimum extra functions. It makes virus scans of multiple drives/devices much easier. IMHO, it’s logging system is better than clamscan. It’s still a work in progress with some design flaws to work out. It’s been run through the fiery forge of bug and design flaw testing. However, any bugs or design flaws not mentioned report them here. Follow the instructions in the script.
Upgraded logging system, removed more design flaws and fixed bugs, menu redesigned. Control-c design flaws to be fixed.
Upgrading: put all folders with viruses into virus folder and delete the rest.
Design flaws:
control-c interrupt leaves folders behind. So, check this with the new ‘-vf’ function.
‘-vf’ function limited to KDE. If you use gnome, you’ll need to change the format.
WIthout making an account? Source Forge started attatching adware to software i’v heard. Github is the new place for opensource software. I need to post on the forums about one item i need.
Also, years ago when I started scanvirus and a knew lot less about scripting. “clamscan” had good interface and it caught viruses other software didn’t. It’s was good, but it had problems with the user interface. The GUI versions were dull and impractical. Not using GUI and minimal extra functions, script only has lots of advantages. I wrote it with myself in mind, using my formal programing skills. I kept it to myself until I thought, “This is really handy and I should release this to all. I use so much great free software and I should give back.” So, I made my first post. That first version was handy, but primitive compared to this latest massive virus eating monster script.
I’ll give that some thought in my next script install instructions.
FYI, I found a need to scan one flash drive only, but still logging data. The design is being worked out. Already, I’m getting annoyed at the logging functions, being also the one who uses it. A script’ers work is never done…
