Scanning and Printing thoughts?

Hi, I am wondering about your thoughts on compatibility using Tumbleweed with a SANE backend and capability with XSANE frontend also.

Xerox C235dni Wireless Printer - 24ppm Color Laser All in One Multifunction Printer with Automatic 2-Sided Printing, Home, Office or Small Business Use - Copy/Print/Scan/Fax - Color Touchscreen

Also is there a better SANE scanner backend supported device (scanner) option used with another color Laser Printer model and brand?

The MFC-J485DW here Magenta refuses to flush or clear out it’s printhead. Without taking it apart I am going to consider purchasing a Laser Printer Multifuction Device. I would also like your thoughts on any model brands etc that you would recommend. Xerox has been around a long time but is the scanner and printer quality and support very good?

Thanks

Most modern multifunction devices support the driverless protocols these days…

FWIW, I’ve had good results with Brother laser printers over the years. Well supported by vendor drivers and driverless protocols. In my workplace (engineering team) we have some network HP multifunction devices on our network which I access via driverless protocols which also work great.

I’m using Tumbleweed also and have my old Kyocera FS-1325 MFP running without issues in my office.

It didn’t work out-of-the-box: I had to install the printer and SANE drivers provided by Kyocera and manually adjust some paths to get the backend recognized. Since those adjustments, it has been working perfectly.

My last Canon Pixma worked out of the box but was an inkjet-printer.

Regarding your question about other brands, I’ve heard good things about Brother devices as well, though I can’t comment on their specific Linux compatibility from personal experience.

I misunderstood the question: Can I scan and print others’ thoughts.

I’m a Epson fan and still running a Stylus Photo RX620 from 2005 with no issues. Just ink cost from ebay.

Using Brother laser printers here and no problems with Linux. I scan photos quite regularly with a separate flatbed scanner (Canoscan Lide 220) which is quite old but works very well. I have used it with xsane with success but currently use it with a commercial app I bought years ago (Vuescan). I have also used Xerox laser printers with success in Linux, but their toner cartridges are expensive. Brother cartridges are pretty reasonable, but in all fairness, I haven’t bought one in a while.
