I would like to install scan2pdf on my Leap 42.1 PC. I previously ran it under 13.2 and liked it. Under 13.2 I loaded it via a repository, but it is not present on the Leap 42.1 repositories. I have therefore downloaded it from SourceForge. However, all that gives me is three python scripts with no indication of how to run them.
Does anyone have any idea how I can run it?
PS I’ve tried Xsane and Simple Scan, but there seem to be restrictions with both. Xsane doesn’t seem to be able to output PDFs, whilst Simple Scan is great but doesn’t do colour. Both these things are essential.

Everything called wxPython is installed, so it may be that scan2pdf doesn’t run on Leap 42.1
simple-scan is available. Don’t be fooled. It offers you a jpg file save but if you change this to pdf and scan multiple pages, it will save a multiple page PDF.
Hi!
I don’t know why you are writing that xsane doesn’t scan to pdf? It does, even to multipage. I have been using it for many years and its working fine for me.
Attach a picture of xsane’s main window ( using Leap 42.1 - KDE) where pdf is chosen.
simple-scan inherits the last xsane settings. So scan something using a program which allows you to use xsane to scan in colour. Then use simple-scan. I rarely scan in greyscale; so I normally get colour scans in simple-scan.
Thanks. I see now how to do this, but it seems to scan as a photo rather than text. I can’t find anywhere to specify that I want a text pdf file. Is this possible?
That’s the problem. I really need to scan in colour text. But I suspect using Simple Scan to produce black and white text or colour prints is all that I’ll be able to do at the moment.
Use any other application that lets you set colour - skanlite, for example - scan something in colour in that application. Open simple-scan, scan the first page, then scan another page until you get to the end. Then save and when it asks you for a filename, terminate it in .pdf. You will get a multi-page PDF as output. As I normally scan in colour whatever application I am using, I don’t need to do the first step.
BTW if you need to scan something in landscape, scan the first page in portrait, turn it 90° right or left and simple-scan will scan the rest in landscape.
Tried the trick with skanlite but its still scanning in black and white when I request a text scan. I have to give up now and won’t be in a position to try stuff until Monday, but I’ll have a play around then
