I have an hp3830 officejet printer/ scanner.
I’m using 15.1 with kde desktop.
I tried scanlite and output wasn’t readable, all blurred. Is there any app to scan documents to pdf?
Hi, welcome to these forums.
Are you sure the resolution settings are OK ?
FWIW: you can also install xsane and try that.
I have hp device manager and it only shows up as a printer. Should it show up as a scanner there?
Do I have to answer the random question every time you make a post?
If skanlite doesn’t find it, it will tell you so. You might check YaST-Hardware-Scanner, it should have hpaio as the selected driver.

I don’t understand what you mean by this, might be related to first 10 posts only.
Install simple-scan.
Thanks I’ll try that
simple-scan is what I use with my HP MFP LaserJet Pro. So far it has done well.
I have xsane, but it is on/off as far as getting a good scan from my HP MFP.
There is a scan plugin in for GIMP, but I haven’t tried it.(GIMP probably installed on your Leap by default. It did in mine.
There is also VueScan for download and install, but is is not GNP ‘free’.
EDIT>>>> MY bad, I do have Vuescan on my Leap 15.1 system. It works very well with my HP MFP. It is much faster than the others listed in these postings, and gives good PDF, TIFF and JPG’s.
I just haven’t dug into it’s ‘free’ usage and how long the ‘free trial’ lasts. Costs around $40.00 U/S. to buy up to about $90.00 for the 'Pro version.
The one thing it does pretty much promise is ‘find’ your scanner, regardless of age, and has a deep database of scanner drivers.
Being and OF, with plenty of time(before I expire). I just opt for simple-scan and live with the time factor.
