have you recently compiled or installed a new kernel? If you install or update a new kernel, you have to reconfigure the drivers…unless you installed both the driver and kernel update from the software manager in YaST

how did you install the nvidia drivers? From the opensuse Repository, a one click install, or did you install it manually via the file on their website?

Looks to me like your driver install is corrupt. If you installed the driver from YaST, uninstall the driver. Once that is done, try reinstalling the driver.

from a terminal, issue the following commands

sudo sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia

once sax opens, make sure it recognizes the driver and enables 3d acceleration (if you want it). Dont not change any of your resolution settings just yet. Save your configuration and exit Sax2

then, issue the following commands
sudo rcxdm start

Hopefully that will get you into a window manager.

If it does, log into your Desktop environment of choice and execute the following command

kdesu nvidia-settings

nvidia-settings is the utility that comes bundled with your driver. I would reccomend using this instead of Sax2 to make the changes to your resolution.

let us know how it goes!
