Using Suse 10.3. I took out my video card to use in another box after configuring the on-board video. I booted up. Everything worked. But now that I want to use a new video card I can’t get sax2 to work. The on-board video stops working as soon as I stick the video card in. Using the new card I booted to level 3, logged on as root and started sax2 from the CLI. Whatever options I try I get a black screen.
The video cards are a Diamond Stealth64 PCI and a CIRRUS LOGIC PCI VIDEO CARD CL-GD5446BV-HC-B.
I don’t want to have to re-install 10.3 in order to have sax2 recognize the new card.
Any suggestions?

Is there an option to disable the onboard card in the bios?
That’s where I went looking first. Disabled the on-board video but sax2 still couldn’t recognize the card. Ended up having to reset the CMOS to get back to where I started.
It looks to me like neither card is supported. I suppose I will have to buy another card that I know works. The Matrox G400 I took out definitely works. But pricey.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I’m trying to figure out what card it is you are actually trying to get working?
If you have any drivers installed and how you did install them?
as root run ‘lspci’ and post output here.
I don’t know where you bought this card, but it’s not new, available since 2002. And found nothing about linux drivers for it.
Quoting from my first post…
“The video cards are a Diamond Stealth64 PCI and a CIRRUS LOGIC PCI VIDEO CARD CL-GD5446BV-HC-B”
No drivers found, none installed.
