Saving to a flash drive

I know this is probably the most stupid question ever but here goes. I am new to open office. We are using eeePcs with our students and want them to save to flash drives. However when I try to save each time the former document saves over the previous document. Is there a way to name documents so this does not happen?

Why not give the file a new name? Saving over an old file is completely
valid, especially if you just opened and modified that file. Most
applications also have a ‘Save As…’ option that will let you change
the name, though that’s not required.

I’m making some assumptions regarding what you are doing since ‘former’
and ‘previous’ usually mean the same thing.

Good luck.
