If you don’t need a dedicated graphic card, it would be better, in my opinion, to buy a laptop equipped with an Intel, integrated graphic card, which is much more simple to use in Linux.
Otherwise you’ll have to deal with proprietary drivers or other (rather complicated) solutions like bumblebee …
thanxvery much for the reply.
i will need to ceate some 3d graphics. i found that there is a driver for the geforce 710m but i am not sure it will be enough.
i also read a post that there are more drivers for nvidia or ati rather than the intergrated cards+ if u will need to change it in future it is not possible. nowi am more confused :? but thank u anyway:good:
If you need a dedicated graphic card, go for Nvidia.
The proprietary driver is good and well supported in openSUSE.
I’ve been using it for years without particular problems …
Its good advice for a desktop, but I would stick with Intel graphics in a Laptop and run away from anything like Optimus. The “Satellitie c55-a-10” looks OK if you go with Intel HD 4000 I think.
Thanks everybody for the help.
As a last minute choice finally did the installation and there were some problems with the 12.3 edition like the dual boot with windows 8 and internet but with the upgrade to 13.1 everything was solved and seems to work fine! At least for the moment
