Hi,
I have a Samsung Multifunction SCX-4x16 printer that connected by USB to OpenSuSE 11.0.
After turn on the printer, suse detect new scanner and printer. After regular installation and configuration for the printer when I want to print test page, nothing will be shown in the output without any warning or error message.
It seems that print command send to printer perfectly and printer warm up but can’t print anything!
It solved. Just update driver with samsung provided.
Hi I have a similar problem with SCX 4100 could you explain what you did to fix it. For me it doesn’t print from acrobat reader sometimes it can print from evince. It had worked in 11 but when upgraded to 11.1 it hungs at printing even if it is configured.
Bye
I have an scx 4100 and printing works fine with the latest drivers, but scanning doesn’t. Samsung claims driver support but doesn’t support linux. If you have just bought it, return it an the grounds that linux doesn’t work and go for hp or something that is supported.
Try adding your account to the lp group.

00tux;
If you have not done so already, check this link:
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Samsung-SCX_4100
See also the notes on the driver: scx4100.ppd.gz found there.
For some printers it seems to be easier to directly install with CUPS
(http://localhost:631/) rather than with YAST.
