You need a Linux driver not a Windows or Mac driver.

Assuming you downloaded the linux driver from that link, it may be the same kind of problem I had with a brother driver some time ago. Older printer drivers sometimes require the 32-bit C libraries. From the official repository, I found that the following helped (just installed via YaST for simplest solution):
glibc-32bit
libstd++6-32bit
I’ve also had patterns-base-32bit template suggested, but no additional details were given with that one.

I have the proper universal installer here, just not a link. But AFAIK a search should find them on Samsung’s websites. Anyway, it got the old ML-1640 to work fully
