Samba w. security= share not working after update to 11.2

Hello all,

I used to have open-suse 11.1 on my Server which had Samba 3.2.7-11.4.1-2210 installed.

For this I used the following smb.conf (partially):
– see further down below –

I use a WinXP SP2 client and after reboot I connect several drives e.g.

M:// → shared drive for my family
P:// → my personal drive

It all used to work with the older version  Then I updated to Suse 11.2 which installed Samba 3.4.2-1-1-3-1–2229. Since then only the shared drives work - the private ones cause difficulties.

Via a different german forum (LINUX • openSUSE - samba Problem nach Update auf 11.2) I was told to update the passwords on the Server due to the passdb tdbsam version which was introduced with Samba 3.3ff

This helped a bit further as I can now connect to the drives.

HOWEVER: I always(!) :’( have to disconnect/connect again.
It used to be that I was asked the PW when I clicked on the drive after Win-reboot. I now only get the error message: error when re-connecting to P:// ; Microsoft Windows Network: There´s more data available. The connection was not made (translated from the orignal german error message).
I deliberately want to use the security=share as then I can connect to all the other “private” drives from one PC simulteneouly. With security=user only one connection with my user name is possible and I can not quickly access the others drives. I if wanted, all below shown shares could be mapped onto separate drives simultaneously.

To cut the story short:
Security = share
I can not automatically re-connect drives to PW protected areas of the server.

Question: what can I do?

Here´s the smb.conf (other log-info nmb.log, smb.log … can be seen in the other forum)

Hello all,

again I spent some hours w/o success.

I still need to disconnect/re-connect drives to PW protected shares when using samba security = share.

Isn´t there anybody who´s using share security who can help???

Would be much appreciated… but you have now about one week.
