SAMBA client not found

Hello

I have installed Suse 10.2. In Yast / Network Services I can’t find SAMBA Client. What’s wrong?

It’s been removed because it didn’t really mean anything, more or less it appears by default when you install the Samba packages. To config the Samba client side of things you just add the correct workgroup name for the LAN and netbios name for the workstation in Net Services –> Samba Server –> Identity. Leave it a “Not a domain controller”. Don’t forget to put the NIC in the external zone and put/leave a path through the firewall. Then restart the samba nmb and smb daemons and see if you can see the LAN by opening a console and executing this command:
smbtree -N
which should show the shares on the LAN except for vista where it shows only the server name.
