Greetings,
Recently updated a test server that’s running samba as an active directory domain controller and discovered that the samba-ad-dc service did not start as expected. Looking at systemctl
, I did not see an entry for samba-ad-dc
.
[ samba-dev-10:37 AM ]-~ $ sudo systemctl | grep samba-ad-dc
Well that’s strange. I then looked at the samba packages and discovered that there no longer appeared to be a samba-ad-dc
package available under 15.5 like there was under 15.4. I then checked all my enabled repositories:
Repository priorities are without effect. All enabled repositories share the same priority.

Okay, everything is in there leading me to the conclusion that the samba-ad-dc
package is no longer available.
Is this an omission by the SUSE team? Is there another package I’m supposed to install? If anyone has any information as to what is going on, I’d appreciate it.
p.s., ALWAYS test upgrades on a test server. Had I done this on the “production” server, I would have broken single-sign-on, DHCP and DNS for my household.
