Samba 3.0.30 PDC & Samba 3.2.0 standalone

Hi,
I have Samba 3.0.30 PDC running on openSUSE 10.3 (security = user) and Samba 3.2.0 standalone server (security = server)running on openSUSE 11.0. This machine can’t authenticate to the PDC. I get (on PDC)‘Sam authentication for the user XXX Failed.’ ‘NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD’. All the other Samba servers pass the authentication (and also windows PCs). There must be a problem between Samba releases. The only partial workaround is to set ‘security = shared’, but this will be a problem. Does anybody has a clue how to solve the mistery. Well, I did not expected problems between samba servers.

Best regards

Hello,

The night was long and I have found the solution! In smb.conf file on standalone samba server (3.2.0) i have put ‘client ntlmv2 = no’ and ‘client lanman auth = yes’. Before I posted the cry for help I was close (I have put ‘lanman auth = yes’ in smb.conf.

Have a nice day:cool:.
