Sad news about DenverD

Regulars in this forum may have noticed one of our most prolific
contributors has been absent of late. It has come to the staff’s
attention that the end of last month, DenverD unexpectedly passed away.
Services were held in his adopted home country of Denmark on August 31,
2013.

DenverD had a passion for open source software and openSUSE in
particular. He stood as a champion for new users, often welcoming
first time posters to the forums and providing guidance to those who
don’t come from a hard-core technical background.

His presence will be missed here.

Sorry to hear about that.

Olav

This is really terrible and unexpected news to read. DenverD helped me out many times and his insight was always spot on and welcome.

My condolences to his family.

Sad news. The open source community is gonna miss one of it’s ambassadors. We’ll miss him.

A Legend!
Very sorry for his family.

Rest In Peace DenverD

Sad news indeed, he will be missed!

Condolences to his Family.

He put a lot of time and effort into these forums, trying to help people to feel at home here and pointing new members to a much of basic information.

There was already a bit of a vacuum the last weeks, but I feel sad that this will be forever.

My condolences to his family and friends.

It’s very sad to learn that a man who was so helpful to me and to so many others will no longer be with us. My condolences to his family and friends.

DD’s presence was definitely felt on the forum, and I am most sad to read this news.

RIP DD.

My condolences to his family.

Indeed…

Oh my.

I’m out of words. The last I heard from him was that he wanted to try
other things, and I respected his silence. So I thought I was doing.

I’m very sad.

Pass on my condolences to his family, if you can.

I don’t know how to react when a friend I have only met on Internet
dies. No way to be present on the funeral or anything.

One word “Unbelievable”
I am stumped and shocked to hear this news.
I cannot imagine these forums without him.
I was wondering for sometime as to whether he was off on a vacation or
something.

In probably one of the last posts he pointed about where he lived and
how global warming would affect him.

He will always “live” in the hearts of people he has rubbed against.

Thanks to the staff for sharing the info.

I never had a chance to meet him in person, but from what I know of his past
through these forum exchanges:

Dreadful and shocking news about DenverD. I appreciated his welcoming friendliness and good humour as well as his wealth
of knowledge from his prolific and generous contributions throughout the forums. I’m sure he’ll be missed by many,
especially those close to him to whom I convey my condolescences.

If you want to put a face on him, his web page contains a link to his
résumé, with a photo. I don’t know about you, but I pictured him
different. Curious how we make an image of people here by what they
write that seldom matches

It’s very sad news, and my condolences go to his family and friends.

DD should be remembered for his welcoming attention to new forum users and especially those new to Linux. Amongst his daily contributions were many interesting and entertaining “links” from the internet, over the years. I assumed he was taking a holiday break over the last couple of weeks, but sadly not the case. An irreplaceable “Character”, whose presence here will be missed.

Very sad news indeed… This remind me that behind each of us there is a real person giving his time to help others. The help DenverD gave will continue to live after him.

True.

His last Facebook photo indicates that he went out in style. Miss you, DD.
