As 11.3 is no longer supported, if you don’t find it in the standard (now
discontinued) repositories on one of the mirrors that hosts the
discontinued repos, you’ll probably have to build it.

… preferably 11.3. I may well upgrade to 12.1 soon. I would like to know that an opensuse version of RXTX exists, and is so, where. I should be able to DL the source rpm from there.

the now discontinued (End of Life) repositories mentioned in the first
response are on this page: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mirrors
http://software.opensuse.org/search turns up
rxtx-java-2.2pre2-3.1.src.rpm as well as rpms for both 11.4 and 12.1,
which i would guess might install ok…

Thanks so much. That gives me the info I need to look for an 11.3 version, as well as knowing there is a 12.1 version.
I Dled the 12.1 version of RXTX but the program (jLog) could not find them), so I bit the bullet and installed 12.1, and installed the 12.1 version of RXTX on this installation, with the exact same results. I may have found an alternative to jLog, but ti would have been nice getting RXTX and jLog to work.
… anyway, thanks for the help
