Hi, openSUSE Tumbleweed here 20241210. X11 KDE desktop environment. Main display is blank after unlocking. A workaround is to system settings > display configuration > main monitor (in this case) , change from 60 Hz to 50 Hz and apply. Then can apply 60 Hz and taskbar is back.
I forgot to mention that this is a ‘dual head’ setup with main monitor on the right side.
What is your GPU and driver?: inxi -GSaz
Hi, thank you for your response.

Inxi reports primary display is the larger of the two. If you disagree that your “main” equates to primary, please indicate.
Before changing anything, I suggest to install if necessary, then run glmark2 to get a performance baseline. Next, remove xf86-video-amdgpu and restart X to see whether same issue continues, and check glmark2. If glmark2 is significantly reduced, a different approach may be required, depending on your own perception of the difference.
Try to use DP-1 & DP-2.
EGL driver is not installed, vulkan driver is not installed.
Code tags was not used.
This Dell
branded video card has 3 display outputs. One display port and two mini display port/ports. I do not have another mini display port cable currently.
History > Prior suggest that I install amdgpu-pro
via AMD website, I did so. amdgpu was then removed.

Still proceed with removal of amdgpu-pro
as a next step? If have other suggestions please do provide.
-Regards.
Drivers from https://repo.radeon.com/ are only available for Leap.
AMD has dropped support for GCN4 years ago.
Uninstall all stuff from https://repo.radeon.com/. Reboot. Install drivers from TW repos.
Connect your mini-DP cable to 1st DP port (DisplayPort-0).

I tested suspend 1 time…seems perfect.
I tested screen lock 2 times seems perfect.
Can you offer further suggestion at this time?
-Thank you for your help, the machine GPU seems to be working much better now.
You mix Packman and openSUSE repos.
Use one of them.
From Packman you need only VA API (VDPAU) drivers. Or install all Mesa 3D from Packman.
Mesa 3D
and VDPAU
packages will now come from only Packman (I think)?

How to install vainfo
?
libva package series is incorrect vendor (not packman)?
Is it true that vainfo
is combined in libva-utils
rpm
package perhaps?

@panorain add the kernel option amdgpu.dc=0
and see if that helps…
Hi. today, coming to machine which was left in running state, unlocking screen. The Main monitor exhibited nothing but blank when unlocking … needed to adjust main monitor from 60hz to 50hz … then sent plasma bug report
. In order for monitor to display background and taskerbar again correctly. Adding the amdgpu.dc=0
kernel parameter and then passing # grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
then finally dracut --regenerate-all --force
After powercycling will pass cat /proc/cmdline to ensure amdgpu.dc=0
is an added parameter. testing machine out now…
-Thanks
One point to note is that after above is completed then powercycling. Main monitor set at 50hz
… much more Flickering
than seen before. Adjusted main monitor to 60hz
respectively and Flickering
diminished significantely…Testing more now…
-Thanks
