Running Plasma 5.5 - cant resize folder widget

On my Leap test system, I recently switched to Plasma5.5 and the Frameworks5 repo
via 1-click install from the Package Search, which I followed by a “Switch system Packages to this repo” in YAST2.

After killing the GUI (Alt-Ctl-Backspace) I re-logged in and most everything seems back in order.

First issue I have is that the Folder view widget on the desktop can’t be resized.
Mousing over the widget does not pop up the quick widget modifier (move, resize) menu appendage (I don’t know what else to call it).

I assume I have a package mismatch, I changed from the stock Plasma 5.4.x.

KinfoCenter reports: KDE Plasma Version 5.5.3 and Qt version 5.5.1

I would appreciate any good hints

In Plasma 5.5, the experimental option (that exists since 5.3 I think) to not show the plasmoid handles on mouse-over has been enabled by default.
So you need to click on a plasmoid and hold the left mouse button for a few seconds to make the handle bar appear, then you can move or size it.

You can disable this again in the “Default Desktop Settings” reachable via right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop or the toolbox icon (formerly known as “cashew”) in the top-left corner.

Thanks, wolfi.

Works as you describe(of course); I might even like that behavior once I get used to it, so I will leave it in place for a while.

Yes. It should prevent accidental modifications and distraction by the suddenly appearing handles all the time, and makes locking the widgets unnecessary to some degree.

Fantastic! This is in “Tweaks > Widget Handling > Press and hold widgets to move them and reveal their handles”. It’s odd enough to have to use the top-right drag bar to resize, but the long click on top of that was really annoying, and difficult to figure out.

Fantastic ! I thought as well this was a bug. Once you know how to move/resize the widgets it’s very handy. However it’s a bit hard to guess without getting help from the internet … Anyway, I will keep the setting like it is, the feature is nice now that I know how to use it…
