Runing VMware Workstation 7.0.1-227600.i386.bundle in SUSE 11.4

**Runing VMware Workstation 7.0.1-227600.i386.bundle in SUSE 11.4 **
can someone please please post me an instruction installation for this. I have been trying so many tutorials and other numerous methods to sort this thing out. I’m so frustrated. And I’m totally a newbie to linux. Your help appreciated

Hi, first I would download the latest release if I was you, 7.1.3 is available and the patches you need to run after installation only work with this version.
Folow this link openSUSE Lizards for the installation instructions.
And you should be good to go.
One thing I found was that my haldaemon was not set to start automatcally, thus the workstation or player gui’s would not run.
I started the haldaemon by running /etc/init.d/haldaemon start then checking Yast > System > System services that the haldaemon was set to autostart, I had to set it to autostart.
All working fine now.
Good luck, regards Peter.

Thank you so much for the fast support. I appreciate it. Will post my results as soon as I finish installing.

 so I trired installing VMware and the installation process went through fine without no errors. but when I tried

“sudo sh patch-modules_v62-opensuse.sh”
to patch I get and error
“sh patch-modules_v62-opensuse.sh”
I still can’t run the VMware it keeps asking for several modules that i must complie before runing the software.

That patches the modules, but doesn’t do the build.

The way I get the software to build is to run vmware as root. The reason
is that the non-root user can’t copy the built modules to the proper
directory as they lack the rights to do so.
