Run Level 3 - customize console colors

I’m running 11.4 x32 on a netbook and have edited /etc/inittab to boot to Run Level 3.

I have been looking for a way to customize the text and background colors of the console. Can anyone point me in the right direction to do this?

Just found this post which mentions bootspash.org.

nope, I spoke too soon with the bootsplash part.

I had tried editing the bootsplash .cfg file for my display resolution, it didnt affect the text or background color of the console itself.

Ok, I think I’m on the right path now. Looking into ~/.bashrc.

make sure and make a backup copy of your bashrc, in case you need to go
back to a working version…

Thanks, DenverD

I had also come across this little tip that may come in handy for someone someday.

To restore a .bashrc file to its default

cp /etc/skel/.bashrc ~/.bashrc

But yeah, backup before the fact is a much better idea.
