RT2860 Wireless Issue OS 11.4

02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: RaLink RT3090 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe [1814:3090]
    Subsystem: AzureWave Device [1a3b:1087]
    Kernel driver in use: rt2860

I get disconnects randomly but it comes back right away.

I’m pretty sure in 12.1 the driver is rt2800pci

Here is some feedback from /var/log/messages
SUSE Paste

I added the staging repo, but it’s still an issue

@lwfinger?
Any hints from anyone welcome

Yes, rt2860 is obsolete, and has been deleted from the kernel in 3.1. You will
get no support from it. I suggest using compat-wireless (rt2800pci). Any
problems with that driver should be reported to linux-wireless@vger.kernel.org.
I have an RT3090, but I have not used it very much.

Thank you Larry

I’m kind of fiddling ATM. So I blew away my 11.4 install and put back 12.1 KDE (It’s on a EeePC)
The install only finished as I went to bed last night, so I’ll take a look after work today. I did notice rt2800pci being loaded during the install media boot up, so I expect that’s what I’ll see from lspci when I look later.
But I had tested 12.1 last week and I’m certain it kept dropping too.

As I said. I put 12.1 back (kde)
I know see

02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Ralink corp. RT3090 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe [1814:3090]
        Subsystem: AzureWave Device [1a3b:1087]
        Kernel driver in use: rt2800pci

It seems stable ATM. No drop off’s all day.
