One reason might be that you are using an .rpm which is not matching the version of your distribution (for example an openSUSE11.1 package on openSUSE11.3). The headers you try to install indeed seem to be a bit out of date.
Am running a gateway that is openSUSE10.3 so i wanted to updated by making new repos, but i looks like i can’t go further than that. so please advise me on what to do next.
I will show you what i did below…
mv /etc/zypp/repos.d /etc/zypp/repos.d.old
rm /var/cache/zypp/zypp.db
zypper ar h…ttp://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1/repo/oss/ openSUSE11_1

Advise please, should i use an older repos or its ok with that.
The main reason for updating is that i want to install the following rpms;
zlib-devel
gcc
gcc++
rpmlib
iodine

openSUSE 10.3 has not been supported with updates (security or
otherwise) since october 2009…
and, you are running it as a gateway?
facing the internet?
my advice would be to very soon backup data and install a new, modern
version and do your magic to secure it…
others may have a different opinion, wait for the one you want…

Yes its the gateway to the internet acting as a router, so i thought that i can update it by adding new repos and then run the update command…
Ok then if i can get it to work i will have to try that that is suggested by DenverD, but if there is anything i can try, please let me know…

Here’s a procedure for a live upgrade from 11.2 to 11.3 which worked for me. SDB:System upgrade - openSUSE
However AFAIK it’s not supported for versions other than 11.2. So an upgrade from 10.3 will most likely be problematic.
I’ve also heard that there is an upgrade option on openSUSE DVD so You could download the latest DVD and try it but I have never tested it.
Oh and I wholeheartedly agree with DenverD. Be sure to backup and upgrade as soon as possible as 10.3 has a lot of security holes nowadays.
This will definitely bring trouble. You cannot just add 11.1 repos (which will soon be empty, since 11.1 has reached the end of support, i.e. no updates) and install from those. My 2 cents? Backup all configs etc, install 11.3, or wait a bit and install 11.4
From the DVD, you can start the install and then you’ll have an “other options” where you can select upgrade. You’ll have to look close for it. Using this with the 11.3 disc would probably be your best bet, and you would then be able to update from the new repositories.
But, it may be a better idea like others have said to just reinstall.
Thanks guys i guess i will just have to reinstall, oh and by the way i alway get problems jumping in for the latest releases… So i will go for the 11.3 and not .4…
Or else i may have to switch to what ma conversant with, which is Fedora…

of course, if Fedora works for you, then use it!!
but, if you also let it go 15 months with no security updates then
that won’t be a laughing matter there either…

fedora on a production gateway can be done
BUT is not recommended
fedora 14 ( the current) hits End of Life in 11 to 12 months
fedora 15 will be out in about 4 to 5 months
fedora is way to fast past to use
UNLESS YOU LIKE reinstalling a server EVERY 6 MONTHS
back up the suse 10 server ( data only) the config files will mostly not work on 11.3
install 11.3
then you can use the upgrade option for 11.4,11.5 …
