Hi,
I have two hdds. 1. SATA 320GB and IDE 80GB. Neither of the two has any jumper to make one of them as primary. BIOS is set to boot from SATA drive. I installed Windows vista on 1. HDD (SATA) and installed Suse 11.0 on 2. IDE (80GB).
After installation when I reboot, i get:-
rootnoverify (hd1,1)
chainloader (hd0,0)+1
Also, I can’t see a grub.conf file under /boot/grub/…
Rather, I see it here:-
i faced the same problem.i usually have a disc of ‘partition magic disc’.when you boot with that disc it mounts all the partition including windows.you can simply edit the grub loader.
coming to grub,it takes the first hdd as 0 and the next as 1.similiarly
the first partition as 0 and the next as 1 and so on.edit accordingly.
this is a copy of my grub ( i too have 2 hdd’s and with windows on the first one and linux on the 5th partition of second disc.)you can also use any live cd for this purpose.i find the partition magic disc easy to use for both partitioning and for editing gub or any files when required)
