root partition size in 12.1

10G for root partition.Isnt that quite large? /tmp is only 30mb, so it isnt that.

Not really. You must take into consideration that you may be installing more software in the future.
And, you do not want to run out of room.

For a 500 GB

My settings for / are 70 GB /home has 320 GB and 30 GB /data partition for storing backup info.
The leftover space is used for testing a new version of openSUSE.

No i mean why it uses 10G from 19,7G, isnt that much?

NO. Mine shows 11.3 GB. That is why I assign 70 GB for my root partition.

It depends on how much software was initially installed.

sudo zypper clean -a
7,6G used

Check in Repo manager
the main repos are set to keep downloaded packages
