Root partition almost full after upgrades

After having completed upgrading KDE 4.1.3 on 11.1 from the openSUSE
build service repository, I noticed that my root partition is now
considerably bigger than it probably should be. In fact, it’s nearly
full.

I’m not sure if the downloaded packages aren’t being removed after
installation, or what’s going on I couldn’t find information on where
the packages are stored temporarily, otherwise I would have checked
myself. Any help would be most appreciated.

I’m not sure if this is the most appropriate place for this post or
not, but I couldn’t think of a better place.

Thanks in advance.

These days they are removed after install by default.

You have to see which directories are using up the space. Maybe log
files in /var/log? Maybe trash folders? du is your friend.
