Hai,
I am new to openSUSE. I have installed openSUSE 11.0 and while asking for userid and password i gave the same userid an password and Installation completed. It was working fine with KDE4. But once i activated the desktop effect, instantly it moved to the login window. but neither the root password completed the login nor the user login or password is completing the login. Whereas previously i was login in with both user and root login and it was working fine. Now i can’t enter suse. please help me out what is the problem.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace twice and that will drop you to the CLI (Command Line Terminal). This screen will have a black background and white text. If not, when you get the boot selection screen (where you choose your operating system), place the selector over OpenSUSE 11.0 and then hit the 3 button on your keyboard, and you should see a “3” appear in the “Boot Options:” section in the bottom-center of the boot screen. Once you do that, hit the enter key to boot with this option. Once the loading splash screen (the one with the loading bar) finishes loading, you should be dropped to the CLI. (This is because entering the 3 is the same as issuing the command “init 3” as root, which causes the X-Server, which supports your graphic desktop environment, to shutdown.)
Try to enter your username and password.
If you are able to login, enter the command: startx.
If your GUI loads, disable desktop effects, and then we can work from there.
Hope that works for you!
ok i will try this. thanks.
