Root icon at login screen

All I have done was downloading a desktop background.
The background works OK.
The strange thing is that suddenly on the login screen the old root
login icon appears and works.
Can anybody tells why this happens ?
Or tell me how to rid of it again

Hi Dobby,

Are you sure it was not some theme pack you installed?
Which DE are you using?

What exactly do you mean by ‘old root login icon’?

If you are using KDE you can tick the root selection box at KDE control center > login manager > user’s tab. Selected users/goups will not show at the KDM login screen.

This has nothing to do with wallpapers. Didn’t you create/edit an user recently, perhaps unintentionally changing this setting?
