When attempting to use an historic snapshot from the Grub Boot menu, whilst I can select a snapshot to open as read only, when grub attempts to load it it FAILS spectacularly. It reports that it has gone into Emergency Mode and requests the root password, however the installation su password is rejected and CTL D repeats the three short lines of text. Any ideas?
Hardware failure? HDD filesystem corruption?
No. The normal boot prompts work, just not with graphical login. The Windows 10 option works perfectly. Windows does not suggest disk failure.
