Right Alt + PrtSC+o turn off he computer

Dear All,

On my Lenovo Thinkpad T14, when I press right alt + prtsc + o, computer turns off immediately. Like some one cut the power. It only happens after kernel is loaded, not before. When I press combination of this button when grub is displayed or before, nothing is happening.

Do you know how to disable this shortcut?

That’s a Linux kernel feature for a poweroff when the system is locked up.

See Magic SysRq key - Wikipedia for information about it.

You can disable the feature in the YaST Security Center under the Miscellaneous settings.

The keys are spread out so you shouldn’t be accidentally hitting them.

Thank you for this!
I knew about it, but forgot, because I never needed to change it.

We have a cat that wants to dance all over the keyboard, so I disabled all of them. I looked at my KDE shortcuts and couldn’t figure out how the cat kept rebooting it or powering it off.

Sajon,

There is a way to disable only some keys. Each function has a numerical value and you add the values together to create a mask of which ones are enabled and disabled. It’s not difficult to understand but it does take a little searching and studying. I just disabled all of mine because of the cat.

Thank you very much. On my keyboard this keys are next to each other. And I’m very often trying to press Alt+o as a key combination for polish “ó”. It’s countless already how many time I turn ff my computer in the middle of some important conversations.
