Resizing Konsole crashes X 12.1 Beta 1 and KDE 4.7.1

Has anyone else found a problem where when you resize a konsole window horizontally X crashes? Not sure if it just me or if it is a real bug. Also not sure where I might find an error log to help with a bug report.

I just tested that here.

No problem with changing size.

You could check whether anything relevant appears in $HOME/.xsession-errors

I have found that it doesn’t happen on my desktop test machine either. The only difference is that the graphics card on the laptop is a Radeon HD4500 using ATIs own drivers whereas the desktop has Nvidia 8100 graphics using the out of the box drivers. I will have a look on the laptop for any errors in the morning.

Catalyst 11.9 is broken for KDE users - i’m sticking with 11

Do you know if the 11.8 driver is more stable and will install under 12.1 B1?

yeah, catalyst 11.8 is working just fine. 11.9 introduced this regression. Both versions are availible in fglrx repo

Rolling back to the previous version of fglrx seemed to do the trick, must remember to disable the repo so Yast doesn’t “upgrade” it again for me.

You don’t have to disable the repo. Just right-click on the name in Yast and select “Do not modify”.

I realise this is a very old thread, but I have exactly the same problem on an HP 8470p running OpenSUSE 12.3 with the latest fglrx drivers.

Resizing konsole doesn’t crash X every time but it has done so 3 times already in the last few hours so the problem is fairly reproduceable.

There are a bunch of errors in .xsession-errors but I don’t really know what I’m looking for?

Further update on this - have installed FGLRX drivers v13.20.16-1, the problem persists. Also can’t seem to manage the laptop’s onboard LCD brightness with the new driver.

Have you tried this already?
