So, yes, I tried to search for it - but all replies are only for runlevevl 5 desktops. As in the tile: I’m currently in runlevel S rescue mode - so I don’t have any desktop. But, my console still keeps blanking about every 5-10 minutes, like when in a desktop a power saving mode is active - but how can this be when in rescue? Am I missing any background service? I don’t see how it could any login script as this also blanks out without logging in.
It’s not like “need urgent fix” - but it does somewhat bothers me as I currently have many-hour long processes running (currently checking multiple hard drives - already 10h+ in and just passed the first pattern pass) and I’d like to have an eye on it - but so I have to press a key every now and then to wake the screen back up. Is this “fixable” without rebooting the rescue mode?
Thank you very much. It was set to 900 - I assume that’s seconds so this would mean 15 minutes - which does seem a bit long - but I could be wrong as I do some other stuff across two systems - so it’s possible time passes by way faster than I “feel it to”.
I’ve switched to a free terminal - already tty4 - and set it to 0. I’ll have to check if this propagates to the other running tty - as restarting them would throw me back a whole day worth of work (currently the longest task is already 12h45m running - a long-test badblocks check on a 3TB drive) and already has another 6 hours of “cleaning” with /dev/zero and a smartctl extensive test - which about the same time.
