required proper drivers(fglrx) for amd ati radeon HD 3000

Hi I have a PC bought four years ago which have gigabyte 78lmt s2pt motherboard and amd fx 4100 processor. The motherboard includes amd ati radeon HD 3000 gpu.

I have used opensuse os this system previously nicely but at present I am unable to use it. I have downloaded opensuse leap 42.2 and started installation and at the biggining itself it gave message as 95.5 kHz @ … on monitor and there was no progress at all. Any how I have installed the os by selecting no kms in video mode( by pressing F3 ) and at present when I boot into the system I am getting abnormal performance I mean sometimes the screen flickers continuously and at sometimes the screen background becomes blue and the screen resolution is 640*480. I am able to boot into windows normally.

I have searched web for amd catalyst and someone suggested that amd catalyst will not work under Opensuse leap 42.2 and someone suggested new package will not detect old amd GPU etc.,

Can anyone of you suggest a link for my graphics card which perfectly suits.

The Radeon 3000 is an “old” Graphics Card which has worked with the fglrx-legacy driver up to openSUSE 12.1 or 12.2.
That Driver is outdated and will not build/work any more.

The Driver (named radeon) for your card is build-in the Kernel and installed by default, but no-KMS or nomodeset will prevent loading that Driver on boot.

So delete the no-Kms (nomodeset) in your bootline.

Can you suggest how to delete nomodset.

Suppose I delete nomodset is there a normal function of my system because someone suggested that experimenting with fglrx may permanently damage the system.

Goto Yast—System—Bootloader and delete it in the boot commandline.

By deleting nomodset screen resolution was changed but the screen flickers continuously and the screen background become blue.

Sorry sometimes system performs normally and at sometimes system performs abnormally I mean screen flickering etc.,

Change in systemsettings5----Hardware----Compositor the Compositor from opengl to xrender.
