Hi I want to practice SCO Unix and so I want to install SCO UnixWare7.1.4 on virtualbox so can you please suggest how to do so. I have requested help from virtualbox forums and there is no response. There is no scope of installing SCO UnixWare7.1.3 on VmWare because vmware is not at all working in openSUSE12.3.
I have created a virtual machine for SCO Unix on virtualbox and when I try to boot from the iso image it is throwing message as FATAL BOOT ERROR: DECOMPRESSION FAILED.
I am having the following iso images with me
uw714.CD1.Jun2008.iso
uw714mp4.iso

imo, then that would be the first thing to fix…
try to install something you know and well understand in
vmware…what would that be, XP? then, once you have a solid
knowledge of how to use vmware then move to the Unix you do not
know/understand…
and, i don’t guess you will find a lot of folks here who have
experience in getting SCO code to run in vmware, but you
might…personally i’d try to find an SCO forum, somewhere…
until you can get vmware working, fixing it is job one.
(i can’t help, never used it…liked too easy VBox to mess with too
hard vmware)
Hi
I donwloaded the uw714.CD1.Jun2008.iso image from ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/unixware7/714/iso/UnixWare-7.1.4-June2008/ and fired up VMware player (5.0) and selected other and other to start the install and it’s currently installing. Perhaps the iso image you downloaded is corrupt?
I am new to Unix Operating Systems but I am familiar with linux atleast with installing the OS but I dont know how to handle the installation of unixware7.1.4 so I am requesting you to suggest the procedure.I am able to run vmware without any errors so try to suggest how to install unixware7.1.4 on vmware workstation.Yesterday I have downloaded the torrent pre installed unixware7.1.3 and it is working properly so can you suggest how to update unixware7.1.3 to unixware7.1.4.Regards,Rupesh.
