Maybe it’s a relatively easy task to underhaul - yea? If you have any wisdom, or can point me into the right direction, that would be awesome. In the mean time, I’ll keep doing some R&D to try and figure this out.

Evolution is pretty solid, but I didn’t get a chance to test Geary. I think thunderbird is really awesome, but I remember when I was using Windows, I just used a fork called Postbox-Inc which was was really nice. Mailbird too, is also pretty awesome…
Yast > click on “View” and select "RPM Groups > page down to Networking > Email > click on Clients > on the right should be a full list. Pick a couple.
I like Mozilla Thunderbird because it is easy to set up spam filtering.
In Yast > Search> SpamAssassin > install it
(I also add bogofilter)
In Tbird > Edit > Account settings > Junk Settings > set up "Trust junk mail = SpamAssassin
and the rest to suit your personal setup
