Request: Fork Cinnamon Settings applet

I figured I’d open this as it’s been a couple months now and I haven’t seen any mention of this or anything similar. Moving on.

I for one like Gnome Shell over Cinnamon, and I’ve looked over the code a bit but I’m not expert, so I thought I’d ask here if maybe anyone had heard anything about forking the Cinnamon Setting applet back over to Gnome Shell. I know this probably goes against the wishful thinking of Mint devs, but perhaps someone might be willing to take this on? It’s not the ‘most useful’ app in the world, but it could be easily expanded on, and it would be a great alternative to the gnome-tweak-tool, considering the lack of alternatives… Just a thought.

There are some other goodies Mint is now hoarding as well, yes they have the right, but it only reminds me of the lack of modularity Cinnamon has over Gnome Shell.

Bump.

Someone has to at least be interested. This has had a lot of views, so I’m sure at least a few of those think it’s a good idea. The only thing that might be a problem is how cinnamon has ‘applets’ and ‘extensions’ but considering the applets terminology, that isn’t all that bad of an idea and those so called ‘applets’ would probably work just the same in GS standard, given they were also ported. The only obvious difference in changes I see with applets aside from the obvious naming changes is they don’t use enable/disable functions. At any rate, there are other valuable functions this script would provide to make life with GS easier for some of us.
