repository question

English Install/Boot/Login

Hello,

Can anyone explain the difference to me between the following repositories. I understand that 11.2 is for the version, but how do the other two relate to it.

11.2
opensuse-stable
opensuse-current

Hi
The openSUSE two are just softlinks to 11.2, it can make it easier to
update your system to the next release without having to go and modify
the repository name when it updates to say 11.3

For the inevitable why are you doing this question… I’m creating a local repository and don’t want to download unnecessary stuff.

Hi
If you ftp from a terminal to a mirror and use ls -la command you will
see the full list, here is the relevant bit;


ftp> ls -la
lrwxrwxrwx 1 ftp ftp 4 Nov 15 08:11 openSUSE-current -> 11.2
lrwxrwxrwx 1 ftp ftp 4 Nov 15 08:11 openSUSE-stable -> 11.2
