when I try to install drivers for my network card I receive an error message ‘Repository already exists’.
Please help me. I’m new in Linux and this error message means nothing for me
Thank you
Welcome to the forums bbobyb. This message probably occurs because as a result of following some ‘how to’ advice, you’re trying to install a driver via ‘1-click’. Am I correct here?
This command will show you what repos are configured:
zypper lr -d
BTW, your post would have been better detected with a suitable descriptive heading (including the network card details) for example. It was just a fluke that I stumbled across this post. It may be that the repo was added and that the correct driver is already now installed. You may just need to configure it with the yast network config tool.
Can you let us know some more info about your network card?
/sbin/lspci -nnk
Just post the relevant lines containing info about your network hardware. We’ll go from there.
Sorry for my late respond but I have a problem with log in the forum.
The result of ‘zypper lr -d’ is:
bob@linux-5ry3:~/Desktop> zypper lr -d

Have you tried to configure your network interface with YaST > Network Devices yet?
Yes, I’ve try this and when I choose Edit it tell me ‘These package need to be installed - ralink-firmware’. I downloaded this from the vendors site and when I try to install them the message ‘Repository already exists’ appears. Please excuse me for any languages mistakes. Thank you for your help
Ok, you need to install ‘ralink-firmware package’ via yast software manager. Alternatively you can do this from a terminal. You need to be root first with the 'su - ’ command, and enter root password when prompted. The type
zypper in ralink-firmware
If you get any errors here, post again with details. From a quick search with webpin, I found the ralink-firmware available from the repo listed here.
So, you may need to add the repo via link provided first.
Then you should be able to configure with yast.
Hope that makes sense. BTW, Your english is fine.
