good evening,
run opensuse leap 42.3
after ( i guess a failed) update of many many packages i suddenly run into issues:
the notebook does not start
warning: creation of the in & outputmoduls is not possible;
report from the k-launcher; issues occured with the loading "/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/,
what can i do?!
love to hear from you
hello again
well - due to the above mentioned issues i was not able to connect to the wlan - I thought that there some more updates are needed.
Now i connected the notebook with a ethernet wire and now i have Internet-connection again.
Probably i need some more updates - should i update the system in order to set it straight!?
Love to hear from you
hello dear all - very very intersting
for several month i have had a new (er) kernel - 4.4. xy
now - after a big (huge) update yesterday i have
bg big issues like mentioned above… - - with the k-launcher
and now - even more interesting; i have an older kernel:
#1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Nov 8 11:21:09 UTC 2017 (9151c66)
martin@linux-jnmx:~> uname -r
4.13.12-1-default
martin@linux-jnmx:~>
- well that is very interesting: i guess that i need a big big update.
what can i do now!?
love to hear from you; greetings
hello again
some corrections - the new installed kernel is newer
- it is the 4.13
- the older one was the 4.4
more issues: when i want to launch the dolpin file manager then i get the following error:
creation of the in and output modules is not possible . the klauncher gives following errors error while loading „/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so“
hello dear all
found a very very interesting thread:

by the way: i cannot access the YAST overview to see the repos.
in other words: i cannot

- check the … repos in YAST
well - i guess that this has to do with the issues that i have described above.
Look forward to hear from you
hello dear all

hello dear all -
any idea - i need some advice…
look forward to hear from you
If, if you are using 42.3 then the current kernel is 4.4.92-31.1 - you seem to have 4.13.12-1
I think you may have a mix and match of incompatible repositories. Try disabling both of those “openSUSE:Factory” repositories and then perform a zypper dup.
Assuming your repository numbering is unchanged from that posted in #6 then…
zypper mr -d 1
zypper mr -d 2
zypper ref
zypper dup
hello dear Paul
many many thanks for the reply. Sounds very promising. And i guess that you re rigth. I probably have messed up the system…:
have runned the following
linux-jnmx:~ # zypper mr -d 1
Repository 'http-download.opensuse.org-c59ab10b' has been successfully disabled.
linux-jnmx:~ # zypper mr -d 2
Repository 'http-download.opensuse.org-ea62be21' has been successfully disabled.
linux-jnmx:~ # zypper ref
Repository 'openSUSE-Leap-42.3-0' is up to date.

hmmm - do not know what that means…
**
question; **should i run any other code now!?
look forward to hear from you again…
OK… looks as if zypper itself is rather broken at the moment.
Try re-installing the (correct for 42.3) version of libmodman1
sudo rpm -i --force http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/libmodman1-2.0.1-20.3.x86_64.rpm
If that goes OK then give “zypper dup” another go.
Sorry, that should have been -U for upgrade, not -i for install :embarrassed:
The correct line is below:
sudo rpm -U --force http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/libmodman1-2.0.1-20.3.x86_64.rpm
Even having done that you may well find there are further mismatched packages… It might be easier just to do a re-install of 42.3 from the DVD, keeping your existing /home partition.
