I went with the KDE Current repo (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Current/openSUSE_13.1/) to KDE 4.14, but now Kmail shows lots of bugs. I’d like to go back to KDE 4.13.3. Is there a repo somewhere? Regards, Alexander
No.
What bugs are you talking about, btw?
But yes! Tumbleweed contains KDE 4.13.3. But however, I’m back to KDE 4.13.3 and the error is still there: “Der Inhalt des Ordners wird abgeholt. Bitte warten.” (in Englisch probably something like: Contents of folder are being fetched).
kmail spills out lots of error messages:

Damm, I’m toast. Can I delete the akonadi database and make akonadi to rebuild it?
Yes, but you shouldn’t install that on a 13.1 system.
If you want to use Tumbleweed, you should switch to Tumbleweed completely.
But however, I’m back to KDE 4.13.3 and the error is still there:“Der Inhalt des Ordners wird abgeholt. Bitte warten.” (in Englisch probably something like: Contents of folder are being fetched).
Probably this problem?
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=215&t=122643
“akonadictl restart” might help when it’s stuck.
Kmail spills out lots of error messages:
Well, a downgrade is not really well supported I guess.
Damm, I’m toast. Can I delete the akonadi database and make akonadi to rebuild it?
Yes.
- Stop Akonadi with “akonadictl stop”.
- Remove ~/.local/share/akonadi/.
- Start akonadi again with “akonadictl start”.
The database will be rebuilt automatically.
You might have to synchronize your collections manually for everything to work though.
Run “akonadiconsole” and right-click on a collection in the “Browser” tab to synchronize it.
And if you have filters, you might have to re-assign the target folders, as their ids may change. The same is true for the configured Trash, Drafts, and Sent Mails folders of your accounts.
Thank you. I indeed moved to Tumbleweed and I’ll reboot now…
After all, I moved to Tumbleweed properly, but without success, kmail refused to display the text of the emails. As a second step it was necessary to delete akonadi’s database as described above. I had to renew lots of details in the preferences of kmail as well as to renew the filters, because all this was deleted by removing the akonadi database. But no emails lost.
Now kmail seems to run stable.
My attempt to install KDE 4.14 from Factory seems to be the culprit, but I did that some days ago and at first there was no issue with kmail.
Yes. Some folder specific settings are stored in the database f.e.
And folders are mostly referenced per id, which may change when the database is created from scratch as mentioned.
But no emails lost.
Was to be expected…
The database doesn’t store any PIM data like mails. Those are stored in the standard places as they were before Akonadi was created/used by KMail, e.g. in a Maildir on your hard disk, on an IMAP server, in .ics or .vcf files for calendar entries and contacts.
The database is mainly a cache (especially needed for online resources) and used for organizational purposes.
Now kmail seems to run stable.
Good to hear!

Well, it still works fine here.
I do have this issue from time to time that mails are not shown, only the “Please wait” screen, but restarting Akonadi fixes that immediately most of the time.
Sporadically a full refresh happens then though (I’m only using online IMAP) which takes a while (30s I would guess), but I can live with that for now.
But all in all it’s actually faster now here than in 4.13…
