I have a few applications which have low-res system tray icon that look really bad when stretched. Specifically, DropBox and DavMail. These applications both change over time based on the current status of the application. Is there any way I can replace the icons for these applications, or decrease the size of the icons rather than scaling them to the panel?

You can use kmenuedit to replace it with a custom icon, but
as you said it changes it over time, then it is an app feature
and maybe hard coded with the app.
Right, the kmenuedit icon is not what is displayed in the system tray for these applications. Perhaps there is a way to stop scaling the icons in the tray?
