Sorry if this is the wrong section or covered in the stickies or whatnot.
I recently decided to install OpenSUSE. Not being very Linux savvy, I kind of just put the disc, booted it, and selected the first option. It booted and such but I still require the disc to run it and Windows XP is still on my machine.
How do I get rid of Windows and allow OpenSUSE to boot without a disc?
It wasn’t clear what kind of CD you put in. If it was the LiveCD, you haven’t really installed it on disk, unless you remember choosing the install icon.
No, that’s still vague. There are several images, the DVD image, the CD image. Is it the CD image? That’s a LiveCD. Which menu item did you choose at the splash screen? Boot LiveCD? Install to Disk? Did you get asked to give up some space on the hard disk for it? If so perhaps the install of the bootloader didn’t take and that’s the problem you have to fix.
