Just a quick note to say over the last few months I have been getting increasingly put off by the Mozilla project’s idiosyncracies, and what I see as the Mozilla Foundation becoming a big bureaucratic monster less interested in developing quality software than in individuals making a name for themselves (or in some cases, just being a jobsworth), so I had an eye out for alternatives. The problem with Konqueror, the obvious choice for a KDE user, is that it does not have a Private Browsing mode (least people find out I have been visiting geeky websites such as this!).
Last night I came across Rekonq somewhere and I have to say that I am very pleased so far. Since it’s version 0.8 I wasn’t expecting great things and yes, it does have its glitches (I have had a couple of flash-induced crashes, and for example the text edit pane I’m typing this in does not do word wrapping) but generally speaking I have found it a lean and sweet alternative to whatever else is out there. I don’t think it does add-ons, but the only ones I used in Firefox anyway were to either to get better KDE integration, or to work my way around idiotic “features” introduces post-version 4 when it all went crazy.
Just saying you might want to check it out. If you have found yourself in the same situation as me, it might be just what you were looking for.
Hello, you made me curious to try the browser rekonq. In the past Konqueror crashed a lot on sites with flash or java.
Same goes for rekonq, it does crash on some flash sites but not on all, that`s a progress
I suggest you try SeaMonkey if you are a Firefox fan, its more slick than Mozillas browser. Plenty of options if you don`t like Firefox anymore: Opera, Chromium, Seamonkey even Midori

good friend to surf.
I am using it for a long time. Mostly on and off.
Since i am having my printing issue with mozilla in general rekonq
offers a good alternative. But i don’t care much about the addons
really.

Each to their own. I like firefox 3 with some privacy addons.
