Reinstall - after crashed & removed boot disk

Hi susers,

Unfortunately my SSD, from which I used to boot, crashed/failed.

fsck did many magic flag repairs on inodes. After the repair, a lot of runtime errors appeared, even the Desktop won’t start anymore…

A reinstall of OpenSuse (11.0) did not succeed.
Should that be possible at all, after such a severe crash?

A ‘hard’ fsck on the SSD succeeded, but then several Packages appeared to be damaged.

Now I RMA-ed the SSD and I hope to receive a new one.

Meanwhile, I wonder if I can get opensuse installed on the HDD, which has an ext3 linux partition with some data, without losing that data…

Or what else can I do at this time to save the data in that partition?
Or better: to access that data?

Thanks in advance,
Eddy

First can you boot from the HD ?
Did you have the Live or DVD from opensuse ?
How much free space do have on the HD about 20 GB ?
If all the 3 answers is yes than it is possible to install opensus
on the Hd without loosing you’re data
But making a backup of the data is always a good idea
