Reformat and now eveything is super slow

So i reformated and now everything is running super slow. When i got to save a image from a website it just lags out and freezes and i have to terminate the window. Even when i got to bring up the process window with ctrl-shift-escape it freezes when trying to load. I am not understanding why.

Please help.

I am running a gateway fx laptop with 4g ddr3, 500g hitachi, nvidia 9800m gts, and a dual core at 2.3ghz.

Have you installed the graphics driver?

No because when I run yast and type in Nvidia for a search nothing comes up.

This may also be of some help to you: Configuring graphics cards.

Hope that helps!

Both of these will help me get by. Thanks for the quick response :]

Ps. If any linux gurus live in long beach and wanna help me save my computer I have beer to offer in return to any persons over 21 rotfl!

No such Luck. Second invite this week. I had one to Antigua the other day.

Okay so I just re-installed.

Now yast isn’t working and the auto update feature reads

DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit.

Quit the auto updater and opt not to start it at boot
reboot

Open a terminal and go su

then do;

zypper ref

then

zypper up

Okay that is dling now.

How do i resolve yast freezing though? I still need to get my nvidia drivers (The link you sent failed when i tried to dl the pack for 11.1) and a driver to player embedded divx players.

You must be doing something wrong. Add the nvidia repo manually and check the packages for x11-video-nvidiaG02 and the coresponding packages as highlighted by the colours

Use vlc mozilla plugin from packman for such videos
but you will need to have followed the multi-media guide first

Okay i have most everything taken care of now. The only thing that is still jacked up is my audio when i play embedded videos from streaming sites on the net.

Watch Anime Online - Best Anime Movie, Top Anime Series, List of Anime Episodes - Blade of the Immortal episode 01

No matter what i have done i can’t get the audio to play for that site and or any site. Note that i have disabled pulseaudio.

Is there a driver that i need to play audio from websites?

i can’t get the audio to play for that site and or any site
So which is it.
Just that site or any?
How about a movie file on your HD or a DVD?

Its any site. Although I am freaking retarded and thought my whole system was messed up. When really i was searching for drivers to dl from yast software manager without first installing the repos ><. Then wondering why i couldn’t find the drivers.

I think i might have it all under control now.

Although I am freaking retarded
I couldn’t possibly comment…

You’ll get the hang of it.
