red5 and Suse

Hi,

I have Suse 10.1 and I want to install red5.
It dosen’t work. I found a tutorial for suse 10.2: Installing Red5 on SUSE Linux 10.2 Open Source Flash

Is an difference between 10.1 and 10.2, that the installation not work?

Thank you
Peter

Hi,

I am new to Red5. I am looking for an existing flv video player which I can use to play videos streamed using Red5 server. Can anyone give me a pointer.
I tried using the player provided by http://www.jeroenwijering.com/upload/player.swf. I am able to play flv files from filesystem but not able to play video streams from Red5 server. Below is the syntax i used to embed the player in HTML Page
embed type=“application/x-shockwave-flash” src=“http://www.jeroenwijering.com/upload/player.swf” style="" id=“pl2” name=“pl2” bgcolor="#ffffff" quality=“high” allowfullscreen=“true” allowscriptaccess=“always” wmode=“opaque” flashvars=“rtmp://localhost/oflaDemo/DarkKnight.flv” width=“420” height=“250”

Thanks in advance.

Not answering directly, but I’ve installed red5 without issues on SuSE 11. I don’t remember anything obvious I saw which might have been specific to any version of SuSE. I compiled from SVN source and recommend the same.

I also ran into issues trying to build a custom streaming flash player, that’s an issue different from Red5 itself. Yeah, I tried that player numerous other free players and the Adobe Flash SDK. It’s supposed to be simple but turned out to be not so apparent to me.
