Thanks. I hope you understand that this is the openSUSE forums (as was explained in post #3 above).
You will have seen that some people here know a little bit what rcd is, or have even used it in the past. It is however not used in openSUSE and thus the change that you find somone here with fresh hands-on experiences with rcd are minimal.
Why didn’t you go to SUSE PRODUCT DISCUSSION FORUMS as was also advised earlier because someone allready guessed (but not knew for certain until you admitted that now) that you are are SLES/SLED user? You can use there the same username/password you used here.

you are welcome to seek advice here, but BE ADVISED that these are the
openSUSE forums and many of the answers might be from folks who have
never run SLES (or maybe never even heard of it before) and
you are likely much better off if you seek assistance from the
Attachmate/SUSE forums (where the SUSE Linux Enterprise gurus hang out),
at: http://tinyurl.com/422mrnu
your ID/Pass here works there also…

IIRC RCD was a Ximian (a defunct company) product Internet eons ago as you can tell from the date of the article below that was intended to provide a smooth updating experience for a variety of distros. It has since been overtaken by improvements in package managers in all distros. You really should ask in the SLES/D forums about it, but I doubt if it’s relevant any more. I think you could just turn it off and not notice a thing (except no error messages from it :).
