Recording Volume Very Low

Hi all,

Working on Dell Laptop Inspiron 1520; openSUSE-11.4; i586; Sound Card - HDA Intel STAC92xx(hw:0,0);

While recording sound on, inline Logitech microphone, in Audacity-1.3.12, the volume level comes out very low on playback. In the command-line AlsaMixer GUI, all devices are shown as activated (NOT Mute) and the settings for HDA Intel Card are:

                        Capture: L - R both 93
                        Master : 89
                        PCM:     100
                        Speaker: 100

On playback of the recorded sound, the volume comes out very low in spite of the Speaker being set at full (100).

Help is earnestly solicited.

Can you check volume on the input sound level on the speaker icon on your taskbar or status bar
You may need more amplification when recording the sounds

Additionally open YaST==>Sound==>Volume==>Increase MIC volume etc…

Hi,

In YAST -> Sound -> Other -> Volume There is no item to increase volume of MIC. While it enables volume adjustments for ‘Master’, ‘PCM’, ‘Headphones’, ‘Speaker’ and ‘Beep’, which all are already adjusted in high enough levels but MIC is not mentioned.

On openSUSE 12.2 / GNOME 3.4.2

GTK YaST shows the mic volumes
